Seetec Delivers New Prison Rehabilitation Service

Prison education service

Seetec Justice will start delivering a series of life skills courses to prisoners at HMP Thorn Cross from this week.

Over the year, trained staff will work with 60 prisoners to improve their consequential thinking, budgeting, healthy living and relationship skills.

HMP Thorn Cross is a category D prison in the north-west of England. The new contract will support men near the end of their sentence to prepare for their prison release.

Through its services in five prisons and four probation services, Seetec Justice supports around 35,000 offenders each year to make long-lasting changes away from offending.

At HMP Thorn Cross, they already deliver an employment coaching service to help prisoners find suitable and sustainable jobs.

Seetec’s Group Justice Director Nigel Bennett said: “As a specialist education and justice provider we are excited to build on our success at HMP Thorn Cross and extend our service offer to include life skills.”

"For many prisoners, leaving prison and returning to the wider world can be a difficult experience. Teaching these basic skills is so important to give prisoners the best chance of rehabilitation after their release.”

Seetec offers a range of services to prisons through the Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS), including preparation for work, careers advice, life skills and support for people with additional learning needs. To learn more, contact us today.
