Seetec Launches Free Recruitment Service for Trainee LGV Drivers
Road transport operators can now benefit from free recruitment for drivers-in-training.
To attract more people into the road transport industry, Seetec is offering a free recruitment service to businesses employing staff who undertake the LGV driver level 2 apprenticeship training.
In addition, changes to the skills sector mean that existing employees, as well as new recruits, can also develop their skills as part of an apprenticeship. Seetec now offers a LGV Driver level 2 apprenticeship that equips new or existing staff with Cat C or C+E licence along with their initial CPC.
LGV Driver level 2 apprenticeship
Designed by the road transport industry, the 12 month LGV Driver level 2 apprenticeship covers:
- Initial assessment, information, advice and guidance
- Driver medical and licence application
- Driver theory training, hazard perception and CPC modules
- Practical driver training to Cat C or C+E (if appropriate)
- Enhanced driver training through regular coaching sessions to achieve safe, controlled and fuel efficient standards
Funding for training
Employers with a payroll of over £3m can use their Apprenticeship Levy towards the cost of HGV Driver level 2 apprenticeship training. Smaller employers in England are eligible for government funding to help pay for the majority of apprenticeship training cost.
Seetec director, Steve Barker explained: "The road transport industry is a vital part of the UK economy. Attracting and retaining safe, competent drivers, equipped with the skills and knowledge for today's world, is critical for its success.
"The new LGV apprenticeship standards, designed by the road transport industry, offer a great opportunity, not only for new recruiters but also for existing staff wishing to develop their skills or change career."
