Digital Skills Apprentice Fashions a Career in Retail
Apprentice Aminah Amjad, 24 from Northern Ireland has just completed her social media and digital marketing apprenticeship programme through Seetec with employer Jourdan, a chic fashion shop that specialises in occasion wear in Belfast.
Aminah explains how the apprenticeship has benefited her, "I first worked as a classroom assistant helping kids with homework. After University, I was looking for work and wanted something that would add value to my CV.
“This course has been invaluable to me as I have gained important digital skills which I will undoubtedly use in my career. Putting these skills to use as part of the programme meant I gained practical experience in a real, working environment.
“I also completed modules I wasn’t aware I could do within the course, but my delivery coach was great in recognising which areas I was strong in and tailored my modules accordingly, meaning I could really benefit from it. I had a great time with my employer Jourdan, implementing the skills I learned, learning about the fashion retail sector and improving my interpersonal skills.”
Pat Jourdan, owner of Jourdan that Aminah now works with full-time, said: “I am very happy with the ApprenticeshipsNI programme. Seetec was more than helpful in working with me to assess my business needs and creating a bespoke learning pathway to address these requirements. Seetec handled the recruitment process, from advertisement to shortlisting, and provided me with a number of great candidates. We chose Aminah, who is now a full-time member of staff, and we have never looked back.
“Having a Digital Marketing executive as part of our team not only reduces costs but has made our online presence infinitely more effective. I would definitely recommend Seetec and the ApprenticeshipsNI programme to any SME wishing to promote their business online.”
Speaking about the programme, Joseph McMeekin, Seetec Apprenticeship Delivery Coach, said: “The Social Media for Business and Digital Marketing courses, which are part of the ApprenticeshipsNI programme, are a fantastic way in which employers can upskill their existing workforce or bring in a new member of staff to help grow their online presence. As more and more of our daily lives go online, it is essential that businesses follow trends. An apprentice can help with digital marketing, web analytics, web design, and a host of other digital skills.”
