A foot in the door for the young unemployed.

Retail apprentice

Today the Government announced that unemployment figures for young people, those aged 16 to 24, had reached 1.02 million in the last quarter, the highest figure since 1992.

Getting on the first rung of the employment ladder, putting their skills into practice in a rewarding way and developing a career can seem, to many, like an impossible dream.

Many contributing factors have had a negative impact on the employment prospects of the young; overall UK unemployment is at 2.62m, and school, college and university leavers are facing greater challenges when looking to embark upon the next stage of their lives.

Increasingly, young people find the greatest challenge their lack of practical experience. This can leave a large, motivated and otherwise productive cross section of society searching for work, frustrated and dependent on benefits.

Help is at hand, Apprenticeships are not a new concept, they offer viable opportunities to those wishing to find, keep and develop a career. For people of any age, an Apprenticeship allows each person to gain valuable experience with an employer in the field of their choosing.

Clear employer benefits

Each Apprentice gains nationally recognised, vocationally related qualifications while they earn a wage and gain sought after experience.  Increasingly employers recognise the value of employing Apprentices to learn and grow with an organisation whilst they earn. Apprentices are generally highly motivated, productive and dedicated individuals who are eager to develop themselves and the company within which they work, positively contributing to workforce teams and productivity.

There are many options for those employers wishing to take on an Apprentice. Those unable to commit to directly employing another member of staff but who still want to give them that first opportunity can do so through an Apprenticeship Training Academy (ATA)

Through this method Apprentices receive all the usual benefits of an Apprenticeship but are employed by the ATA itself until such time as alternative employment is gained and are placed with a host employer for a nominal management fee.

Seetec can offer both Apprenticeships and Apprenticeships with the Seetec ATA.  Apprenticeships are available now at intermediate and advanced levels in many vocational areas, including; retail, hospitality, customer service, IT, logistics, warehousing and management.
