As the presenting sponsor for the Visual
Merchandising category the team at Seetec enjoyed a successful
first day at this years WorldSkills event.
The biggest event to be held in ExCeL using
the whole of the exhibition centre, WorldSkills London 2011 is the
biggest skills and careers event and provides the opportunity for
young people across the UK to watch 950 competitors (under the age
of 24) competing to be the best at their chosen skill.
From floristry to robotic engineering,
bricklaying to fashion design and of course visual merchandising,
young people from 51 countries are working hard to impress the
judges.
Alongside the skills competition, the event is
packed with things to do. Visitors can try their own skills in the
Have a Go areas, visit the organisations in the exhibition hall for
careers advice on courses and career paths or watch some of the
young talent from across the UK perform in the showcase event.
This year, Seetec is running the Have a Go
area for visual merchandising. Visitors can try their hand at
dressing and accessorising mannequins, creating origami objects as
window dressing, using software to create their own store layout or
take their picture and upload it to social media sites using the
‘Tweet’ Mirror, the latest in shopping technology.
WorldSkills runs until Saturday 8th
October.
