Robert voluntarily attended Seetec’s employment and training centre, Dudley after having not worked for over 3 years. He had incurred severe physical effects caused by a history of obesity, and also those associated with a lifetime working in a manual capacity as a ground worker.  He had been fitted with two replacement hips, a partly replaced shoulder and had undergone surgery to strip veins in his left leg. Robert was in addition, awaiting surgery on the veins in his right leg.  He had left school with no qualifications and now that his health had deteriorated, despite him reducing his weight to 12 stones from 19, he was at a complete loss as to how he was going to earn his living, but was adamant that he wanted to work.

Initially, his Employment Consultants Wendy and David, felt that Robert needed to be in a healthier physical condition before he could secure a job, as he still had to undergo surgery, but Robert’s attitude and determination were to be admired as he wanted to start looking for work straight away. Wendy suggested to Robert that he attend the job search club, and not before long Robert was a regular visitor, even bringing his wife on several occasions.  He assured Wendy that once he had undergone the latest operation he would soon be fit to work.

Following a two week recovery from his surgery, Robert was again back at Job search and with the assistance of David applied for a job as a Security Guard at Russells Hall hospital, about a mile from his home, with the Company offering all the necessary training.  To Seetec’s and Robert’s delight he managed to secure the job.  He started his new job with ESG Security full time and is really enjoying his new found independence.  

David and Wendy are most proud of Robert; he is a shining example to all those disadvantaged in the job market.
