Unblocking The Way Ahead

New Help Available for People Who Have Been Made Redundant in the East of England - May 2009

Press Release

Leading employment and training provider Seetec, will be helping people who are at risk of redundancy, have been made newly redundant and the unemployed  across the East of England boost their skills and experience and move back into employment after being awarded a new contract from the Learning and Skills Council in conjunction with The European Social Fund.

‘Response to Redundancy’ is designed to provide a promptly delivered package of vocational skills training and support for people who have been – or are likely to be - affected by redundancies and for employers who are considering or in the process of making staff redundant.

Building new vocational skills in line with those which employers say they need to remain productive, will increase participant’s prospects of being able to offer alternative employers a different set of skills while the programme will also provide training in the job search and application process, including the practical elements of CV writing and interview techniques.

For those under notice of redundancy, the programme offers the opportunity to re-skill in areas of employer demand and for some this may mean they are able to escape redundancy by being able to provide new and relevant skills to their employer.

Seetec’s extensive experience and successful delivery of other mainstream and European Social funded employability and skills training programmes will stand them in good stead when delivering this much needed and called for programme which started in April 2009 and runs until the end of 2010.

Graham Martin, Seetec’s Operations Director for Learning and Skills welcomes the new contract and said “The award of this contract will enable Seetec to offer a seamless route for customers in the East of England to gain employment and access lifelong learning opportunities through work based learning initiatives such as Train to Gain and Apprenticeships”.
