Leading employment and training provider
Seetec, will be helping unemployed individuals from across Luton
boost their English language and employability skills after being
awarded a new contract.
The ‘Language and Employability’ project which
is co-financed by Luton Borough Council and the European Social
Fund will support 200 Luton residents move into work, with
particular focus on people from ethnic or migrant backgrounds who
are unemployed or not working.
Working within the local community the project
aims to help people who are unable to attend traditional college
courses, and offers a range of tailored support including work
placements giving individuals practical experience of the
workplace, and help with improving English language skills through
ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses.
“Many people in Luton face language, health
and personal barriers which prevent them from finding work”
commented Seetec’s Regional Operations Director, Andy Emerson “We
are delighted to be able to help them build their language and
employability skills and find suitable and lasting employment”
The project is available through Seetec’s
Luton training and employment centre and will run until December
2010.
