The Prime Minister, the Rt Hon Gordon Brown MP, visited
Seetec's Employment and Training centre at Watford earlier this
month, to talk to jobseekers looking for employment.
He toured the centre and also attended two training classes
where customers were engaged in an Interview Techniques module and
a Literacy Numeracy ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
module. He chatted to customers and former participants, including
three who had become Seetec staff, who were now helping others to
find work.
During his time at Seetec, the Prime Minister said that he
wanted to meet people who were looking for work and to assure them
that the Government was doing everything it can to get the economy
moving during the current downturn.
After taking a look at some of the good news letters and cards
the Watford centre had received, the Prime Minister commented
"there really is some good work happening here".
Mr Brown made his way to the main job search area where he
chatted with customers and staff, and asked questions about the
type of work customers were seeking. He also enquired as to whether
they had any interviews arranged. He was keen to hear about the
training customers were receiving and how they were being supported
in finding work.
Seetec's employment and training centre offers support to
unemployed people who need help in returning to work, including CV
preparation, job applications and interview techniques, as well as
one-to-one advice.
The Prime Minister's visit was part of a wider tour of support
services in Watford which began with the Prime Minister officially
opening Watford SureStart centre at Beechfield school before
arriving at Seetec Watford later in the day.
