Seetec Expands its LSC Contracts

The Learning and Skills Council and the European Social Fund have awarded Seetec with seven new Work Based Learning contracts allowing them to expand their existing Apprenticeship and Train to Gain provision across four new districts in the UK.

The new LSC contracts will see Seetec deliver Apprenticeships at NVQ level 1 and 2 in various different occupational areas to young people in The Black Country, Liverpool and Manchester, and Train to Gain in The Black Country, Liverpool, Manchester, South West - Weston Super Mare and Bristol and the South East - Surrey.

In addition, the ESF awarded Seetec with a Workforce Skills Level 1 and Skills for Life contract, which will work alongside the Train to Gain provision. The new programme, which is only available in the Black Country is for people who do not hold any formal qualifications and training, will be available in Numeracy and Literacy and Customer Service, Business Administration, Warehouse / Logistics and ITQ.

All the work based learning programmes aim to help people gain the relevant skills and qualifications they need to progress in their careers and also help boost local businesses and the economy.

Learners enrolling on one of Seetec's programmes will be able to experience an innovative blended learning approach, which gives accessibility and inclusion for all with access to a wide variety of online learning resources such as the learners intranet and e-NVQ. This innovative learning approach is supported by flexible work based assessment which means learners can access learning and assessment at a time and pace to suit them and their employer.

Seetec's Learning and Skills Operations Director, Graham Martin is delighted at the news, saying "We are really pleased to be able to bring Seetec's expertise and experience in delivering training to these new areas. The contracts reinforce our commitment to provide a skilled and qualified workforce and I am confident that employers and learners within the new districts will benefit immensely from our innovative learning style which is both flexible and intuitive".

The new LSC contracts run from the 1st August 2008 for 3 years with the ESF contract running until December 2010. All the provision will be available to eligible employers and their staff in the new areas.
