Fresh Steps
Summary
A voluntary part time support programme for
Lone Parents who would like to gain manageable employment. Offers
parents the opportunity to overcome barriers to work through a
variety of modules from concerns about working through to
confidence building, improving and learning new skills.
Overview
Fresh Steps is designed to support lone
parents who are interested in gaining employment. It looks at the
essential barriers stopping the customer from going to work,
exploring and identifying qualities, experiences, qualifications,
generic and specific employment skills in order to meet the
customer's job goals.
Eligibility
Voluntary programme for all lone parents
regardless of age who live in the East of England
Duration
Minimum of 4 hours per week over 8 weeks on a
flexible drop-in session basis
Aims
The aim of Fresh Steps is to help lone parents
who are predominantly in receipt of Income Support to overcome
their barriers to find and start work
Key Objectives
- To identify customer's barriers to work
- To build motivation, confidence, team building and problem
solving skills
- To develop job skills
- To provide intensive support to improve immediate job
prospects
