Computer Recycling - Seetec Is PC
Smart, Are You?
Seetec began its Computer recycling programme in 2003, the aim
of the scheme was to tackle what was seen as a build up of
otherwise unwanted or useless IT equipment in our local area.
Many organisations have redundant PCs and peripherals that could be
put to good use either as parts of refurbished systems or broken
down into their individual components and recycled for re-use.
Each system that is donated to us receives a full inspection
before any other procedures are carried out, this is to ascertain
what condition each part is in and therefore where it is destined
to go. Once this stage has been completed, the equipment is
cleaned, working hard drives are re-formatted and each PC is
broken down into parts. Fully functional PCs are then
re-constructed and re-initiated from the fully working parts gained
in this way.
Our refurbished PCs are then available to local charities
and voluntary organisations free of charge.
Parts and materials we cannot re-use ourselves are safely passed
to 'Computer Salvage Specialists', a company that specialises in
the environmental disposal of electronic substances and materials.
Once 'Computer Salvage Specialists' have received the materials
they are then able to carry out further checks of their own and
recycle each part in an environmentally friendly manner. Please see
below for information on how some materials are re-used.
Unfortunately, we
are unable to accept new donations at this
time.
