Full Time Education or Training (FTET)

Overview

This option is aimed at people who lack qualifications or whose existing qualifications have become outdated. It aims to raise skill levels to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent and increase employability. The length of time studying in this option can be anything up to 1 year with participants receiving a review after 13 weeks. Whilst attending FTET, participants will receive an allowance equivalent to JSA plus a training allowance and travel expenses.

Voluntary, 18-24, claiming JSA for 6 months or within special group

Duration

4 to 52 weeks but typically 13-26 weeks

Aims

FTET aims to enhance employability and move people into jobs, through high quality education, training and work experience.

Key Objectives

To help jobseekers reach NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) or offer support to those with basic skills needs.
To equip participants with employability and occupational skills for work.
