An Apprenticeship is made up of several different
components - a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in your
chosen area of work, a Technical Certificate (where applicable) and
a set of Key Skills.
When all are linked with an NVQ level 2 they
create a programme known as an Apprenticeship, which is work
related and equivalent to 5 GCSEs.
When linked to an NVQ Level 3, they create a
programme known as an Advanced Apprenticeship, which is work
related and equivalent to 2 A Levels.
NVQ’s are qualifications which measure your
competency and prove your ability within a particular job.
They are set against nationally recognised standards. They
are well known, understood and trusted by employers - handy to have
when you want to move your career forwards.
The Technical Certificate and Key Skills
build your confidence and knowledge as an all rounder. They
will help you understand your chosen occupation and enhance your
employment prospects.
Key Skills is an area assessed as an
integrated part of your NVQ throughout the duration of the
programme. In some cases, existing qualifications may exempt
you from Key Skills.
A Technical Certificate is an award aimed at
giving you additional skills and knowledge in your chosen
occupational area. Technical certificates vary in length of
time to complete.
How long does it
take?
As a guide, an Apprenticeship takes 12-18
months and Advanced Apprenticeship takes 24-30 months.
However, the more work you do, the quicker it takes to achieve.
Who can do an
Apprenticeship?
Anyone between the ages of 16-18 can undertake
an Apprenticeship although some restrictions may apply if you are
aged between 19-24 (Graduates are not entitled to access
Apprenticeships).
What if I am over
25?
Seetec can provide training for anyone over
25. In some cases we may be able to access funding to support
you. Alternatively the costs of training will need to be met
by your employer.
What
areas of work are covered?
There are many areas covered including:
- Customer Service
- Business Administration
- Warehousing
- ITQ
- Logistics
- Contact Centres (Call Centres)
Many other areas are covered. If the one
you want isn’t here, let us know - we may be able to help.
Does it
cost anything?
If you are under 25 years of age, an
Apprenticeship will cost you nothing, although your employer will
be required to assist in supporting your training.
How do I
join the programme?
You need the support and agreement of your
employer in order to be able to fulfil this programme.
However, once you have this it is very straight forward.
A Seetec representative will supply you with
an application form for you to complete and return to us.
You will then have a visit from us, where one
of our assessors will:
Review your current skills, identify
any areas that may require additional support and explain how the
programme works
The results from this session will show you and your employer
your starting point at the beginning of training. Once
completed, and with your help, we can agree and create an
Individual Training Plan just for you.
