Train to Gain NVQs
National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) are
nationally recognised qualifications. They are generally
suitable for people who are already working over 16 hours a week
but who want to increase their qualifications. NVQ’s show your
employer that you have reached a certain level of ability within a
particular job and can be used on their own or as part of a
programme leading to an Apprenticeship. NVQ’s are taken in the
workplace which means that you do not have to attend night school
or college.
What areas of work are
covered?
There are many areas covered including
- Business Administration
- Contact Centre (Call centre Operations)
- Customer Service
- ITQ (Information technology
Qualification)
- Logistics (Storage and Warehousing)
- Distribution and Warehousing
- Numeracy and Literacy
Seetec operates two NVQ programmes:
Train to Gain and Work Based
Learning
Although both Train to Gain and Work Based
Learning lead to NVQ’s, they have different criteria for who is
eligible to take part and how long they take to complete. Your
Seetec Adviser will be able to help you decide which of these two
NVQ routes is right for you depending on your personal
circumstances, for example, your current level of qualifications or
you age
Does it cost anything?
Both Train to Gain and Work Based Learning are
funded by the Government
How Do I join an NVQ
programme?
You need the support and agreement of your
employer but once you have this it is very straightforward, ask
your Seetec Adviser for details. Once you have joined the
programme you will then have a visit at work by one of Seetec’s
Assessors who will review your skills and explain how the programme
works.
How do I complete an NVQ
To Complete an NVQ you will complete a number of practical
assignments and build a portfolio of evidence of your knowledge to
show to an Assessor who will also ask you questions about your work
and assess your knowledge and understanding.
