Skills Start offers people the opportunity to
gain valuable work experience in an industry of their choice.
The work is only temporary lasting around 13
weeks, but it gives people the confidence, skills and work
experience they need to succeed when looking for their own
subsequent employment.
What help will I receive?
- A work placement with a reputable
organisation
- A choice of part time or full time work
resulting in a work reference
- Information, advice and guidance on searching
for a job
- Access to work related training
- Advice on receiving financial benefits such
as working tax credits
- Support from a Personal Adviser even when you
find your own employment
- Advice and assistance with childcare and
travel costs
Who can join?
Skills Start is available to all people who
live in Bedfordshire (Luton excluded) who are currently out of
work, including people who are not claiming benefits.
