Find out for yourself what some of Seetec’s
staff think about their jobs.
Employment Consultant
Seetec’s Employment
Consultants have a vital role to play –moving our customers into
sustainable jobs; from planning a customer’s programme, to
motivating and increasing their confidence, helping them write CV’s
or providing support and advice. There is no such thing as a
typical day, customer or for that matter, Employment
Consultant.
Employment Consultants work in a
fast paced, target orientated environment and need a range of
attributes including: the ability to motivate others, to engender
trust and respect, to be flexible, adaptable, resourceful and
solution focused.
Tanya Butler joined Seetec 5 years
ago and works as an Employment Consultant in our Watford employment
and training centre.
“An EC's job is
stimulating and challenging but it also brings the reward and
knowledge that makes all the hard work worthwhile. As EC's we
are constantly adapting the way we work to suit our customers,
funders and governmental requirements, whilst focussing on
gaining sustainable employment in an ever shifting labour market
for customers with hugely different skills, personalities and
barriers”.
“Each day is
a mixture of administration, customer care, training, sign
posting and job search. Our business is driven by customer
success, the greater the challenges a person presents, the greater
the joy when they get a job.
A wall of thank
you notes from people we have helped motivates us to keep seeking
out employment opportunities, knowing that
gaining employment can literally change people’s
lives”.
Employer Engagement Consultant
Building relationships is
an important element of any operational role within
Seetec, being particularly vital for Employer Engagement
Consultants. Identifying placements and vacancies for our
customers and providing support for employers, Employer Engagement
Consultants need to be proactive and passionate about the benefits
that recruiting our customers can bring to businesses.
As the interface between our
staff, customers and employers this is a role for a real people
person; you need to be confident, articulate, persuasive and target
focused with a solid understanding of the labour market, a
knowledge of where the opportunities are for customers and an
ability to beat the competition to the jobs.
Nicola March joined Seetec after
transferring from another organisation. She works as an
Employment Engagement Consultant in Cambridgeshire.
“I have found
Seetec to be a good company to work for, with excellent support
from management and plenty of training opportunities to further
yourself. I thoroughly enjoy my work as an EEC. My
role has evolved since I started, this means there is always a
variety to the day which brings many challenges, so I get
to use my problem solving skills and I never get bored.
I can't really
tell you what a typical day involves because for me everyday is
different: I may be marketing Cambridgeshire’s employment
programmes to get referrals through a job fair one day, doing
presentations to employers or Jobcentre Plus another and then
building relationships with local employers by phone or face
to face the next.
I have to be in
constant contact with the managers and staff of the three centres
that I cover and often work out of their centres: pre selecting and
interviewing clients to see whether they are suitable to put
forward for any employer vacancies that I may have."
Learning and Development Consultant (NVQ
Assessor)
Seetec’s Learning and
Development Consultants are based around the country monitoring,
assessing and delivering NVQ’s to our learners. With Seetec’s
Skills contracts growing year on year, high success rates and a
national emphasis on up-skilling the nation, this is an exciting
area to work in.
Our Learning and Development
Consultants have to organise and manage their caseloads and time
and take a flexible approach to working with both learners and
employers across geographical and occupational areas.
Sue Prentice joined Seetec in 1991
and assesses learners who are undertaking NVQs in either
Business Administration or Customer Service across Essex.
“Being an
Assessor is a busy, often frantic and always demanding job!
We travel many miles each week, visiting our candidates to assess
their level of skills against the NVQ standards. In a typical
day we may see up to 5 people.
My favourite
part of this job is building up a relationship with
my learners and seeing their skills and confidence grow and
develop throughout their course. I enjoy the one to one time
spent with learners, getting to know them and it’s always
interesting learning about other people’s jobs!”
“When a
candidate tells me they have learned a lot from doing
their NVQ, have enjoyed the course and is pleased I was their
Assessor, I feel a great sense of satisfaction”.
Marketing Executive
Employers are often
confused by the array of public funded training options available
to them. As a Marketing Executive you will market both over the
phone and face to face Seetec’s contracts, clarifying what is
available, the business benefits and the processes.
As the front line sales and
marketing force for our contracts our Marketing Executives are
excellent communicators and relationship builders linking up with
both our employment centres and external brokers and partners to
produce a cohesive, transparent employer offer. Working as
part of a dynamic team go getters with an organised, target driven
approach will thrive!
Joanne Powell joined Seetec in
September 2008 and works across the Black Country marketing NVQ
qualifications.
"Since joining
Seetec, my experience has been a positive one. I meet new
people every day, and watch them build in confidence as they go
through their NVQ. I enjoy every part of my role and grow
with more confidence myself each day that I work.
Seetec are a
great company to work for, offering excellent personal
development within my role and, if I need it, help and advice with
my personal life!
I look forward
to a long career with Seetec."
